Hello again,
just a quick question if I may- when talking to field staff and branch managers or even regional managers (not as part of a focus group)- how many should I best talk to? the MFI I'm going to has 15 branches.. what is the percentage or the number I should do? Should I talk to 10 out of 15 branch managers for example? How many field staff in each branch? I don't know how many there are yet, but should I follow a percentage.. or just to talk to a few randomly?
Many thanks,
Nora

Dear Nora,
Thank you for your question.
It is not required to talk to every branch managers and field staff as the idea is not to draw a representative sample for quantitative studies.
You can talk to a small number of staff, as long as it gives you a clear and diverse picture of the knowledge and practices in the MFI.
It could be interesting to get insights from branches with different profiles (i.e. small/big, rural/urban, etc.), but also different types of staff (new/senior staff), so you can get a qualitative
comprehension of different points of view.
Also, as far as possible, try to independently choose the people you will talk to, and avoid having them assigned by the MFI.
I hope it helps.
Good luck !

Hello Marie
I'm sorry to keep bothering you with my questions. Its just that suddenly I am not quite sure what you mean by 'Field Partner'? so for example under clients fit is mentioned; 'if I'm planning to talk to a field s partner client'...
Also, there are some questions that I can ask to clients for cross checking- but there are also questions for focus groups. aren't the focus groups also intended to be with the MFI clients? If yes, what is the difference then between the questions to clients and to the focus group.
Many thanks. I have arrived in India 3 days ago and all is going well so far. I will start visiting branches next week as they are closed for a few day this week for their 'Durga Puja' festival.
Best,
Nora

Hello Nora,
"Field partner" actually designates the MFI in which you are implementing the SPI tool.
Focus groups can be organized with the MFI clients, but also with the staff. You'll be able to find some guidelines regarding focus groups here: http://spiwikiv3point3.pbworks.com/w/page/41438059/Implementation%20Phase.
Have a great experience there, and feel free should you have any further questions.
Best,
Marie Anna
